December 2012 Competition Announcement

Snow swirls around you as your booted feet trample through the snowy cobble streets of Victorian London. The scent of balsam and roasting chestnuts fills the air, as the glow of gaslight and twinkling candles light your way. The bustle of Christmas business fills London's streets with vendors and hawkers of every kind as the city prepares for the winter holiday.

Have you guessed our theme? It's a Dickens Christmas!

You can build a home or a business that would have graced the streets of London during one of its more prosperous times. Although times were good, there has always been an element of poverty in this amazing city. You may choose to focus on either aspect.

Not sure what the architecture of Victorian London would be like? Check out the links, and be sure to focus on 1840 - 1870s London.

Hi Builders!

Just a couple of last minute things to remember!

First, please send me 512 x 512 full perm pics of your build before 5pm SLT. Name them like this: MR (your name). For example: MR Jolie Serendipity.

Double check your build that you don't have items with another creator listed. This is the thing that most often gets people disqualified. Another hot item for disqualification is if any of your prims show creation dates not within the dates of the competition. (we do check these)

Please consider donating to the donation thermometer located at the Welcome Center. The prize money comes from the donations. Any amount is appreciated!

TP in your friends and enemies! (JK, I know none of you nice people have enemies!) Encourage them to vote on the People's Choice board after 6pm SLT, and give to our donation thermometer!

Visit our sponsors on the sponsor board, and spread the Linden Lovin by shopping with them!

Winners will be announced next Sunday at 4pm SLT at our Awards Ceremony at 􀀀Bring a Friend and Stay Awhile. ReallyMad Morpork will perform LIVE!

Thank you for participating. I hope you had a lot of fun, and will join us again next month! Look out for the new theme around December 1st!

Mountain Retreat Lot Size and Land Impact

Hello builders!

This month's competition has an additional challenge! Your mountain retreat must fit in a 16 X 32 lot, and may have no more than 117 Land Impact.

Yes, this is the "standard" Linden Labs size for premium accounts.

I have textured the lots to match the grass, let me know if you want me to remove the smaller lot so you can rez your own 16 X 32 and use your own texture.

Remember to wear your special Little Blue Island Management tag while building, and save, save, save. Did I mention that the most important thing you can do is save your build?

Please plan your time, and get started as early as possible. Plan for unexpected hitches such as the sim crashing or griefers causing lag. Save your build. I cannot say this enough.

Also, please review the rules. It is your responsibility to know them. Ask questions if you are not sure.

Be kind to the sim managers, and each other. Our goal here is to help you become a better builder, and we all know we learn better when we feel like those around us have our back.

If you know anyone who wants to join us, please send them to our blog. We need 2 platforms, why not fill them? b2bonsl.blogspot.com

TP in your friends to watch, and encourage them to donate to our donation thermometer. Prizes are paid from funds raised! Be sure to thank them for the honor.

Most important, while you are saving your build, remember how much fun this is!

Zombie Town Competition Awards Ceremony

Today we will announce the winners of the October "Zombie Town" competition at the gorgeous "Bring a Friend and Stay Awhile" venue. Our generous benefactor, Still Braveheart, has decorated the sim for Halloween, so you can wear your costume, or if you prefer, come as you are.

Still has also arranged live entertainment!. Reallymad "Mick" Morpork hails from the UK is a recognized name and talent in SL. He has graced some of the most popular venues since rezzing his microphone in 2008.

With his wonderful accent, charming personality, and amazing voice, Mick has the crowd always wanting more. However, he is very humble, claiming he only sings 3 places: In the car, in the shower and in here. With songs ranging from rock to selections from Les Miserables to ballads and even a little country there is something for everyone. A fellow musician in SL insisted on making him backing tracks after hearing Mick.

Mick does more than sing, he entertains and has you feeling like you know him. The hour seems to fly because you will laugh and sing along with him.

So, don your costumes, grab your friends, and be prepared for a frighteningly fun time!

4pm SLT, be there!

Flip this Build! - August 15, 16, and 17

Hello Builders!

This month we are doing something VERY different! We will be giving you a full perm build, and some full perm textures. Your goal is to make the build different, using ONLY the prims and textures given to you. You may twist them, cut them, resize them, torture them, and retexture them! You must use at least half of the total prims given to you, but do not add any prims to the prim count. (All prims will list the original creator, and we do check!) You can use the prims to create furnishings, plants, and decorations too.  You may use scripts, either those included with the build, or others.

For this competition no mesh will be allowed. You can use sculpt maps on the prims included in the build given to you.

We want to see you maximize your creativity, this should be a challenge that requires most of the time allotted for the competition. We are not looking for a simple retexturing or resizing, but a transformation from what you are given to the limits of your imagination. This build may be a home, a store, a factory, a club, etc. It should be built to the "standard" avatar measurements (with a little fudging allowed for camera controls.)

The building package will be rezzed on the platform and available only to those registered. It will include the build, textures, and a builder's tape measure (and perhaps some other building tools that we get donated between now and the competition).

* * * * * I M P O R T A N T * * * * *
If you want to participate, you must register and have all the right tags by Thursday, August 14th at 6pm SLT, as I will not be available on Friday to facilitate that (due to RL obligations). If you don't know what the right tags are, don't hesitate to ask another B2B member, DanielRockport, or Jolie Serendipity.

Competitors Get Ready!

Hello Builders!

Spring has sprung in many parts of the world, and what better way to celebrate than with a building competition that includes a garden springing into life?

Mark your calendars for the weekend of May 16, 17, and 18th. You will start at 8am SLT on Friday the 16th, and stop at 6pm SLT on the 18th.  I'm so excited to see what you all build!!

May's challenge is Cotswald Cottage Architecture. These Hansel and Gretel-like storybook homes will charm your socks off with their winsome exteriors, quaint interiors, and overflowing gardens!

Along with the standard building criteria listed in the general rules, your build will be scored on how many of these you include in your design:

★ an asymmetrical design
★ a sloping, uneven roof with very steep cross gables
★ stucco siding
★ casement windows with several small panes
★ a prominent stone chimney
★ small dormer windows
★ low doorways, some of which are arched
★ an English Cottage Garden

The interiors of these cottages are small with irregularly-shaped rooms, and rooms on the upper floor often have sloped walls.

Hello Builders!

First I want to give a few words of thanks to Gillian Carthage and all the wonderful people at Little Blue Fermi; without your generosity and encouragement, we wouldn't exist. I'd also like to thank Krissie Snowdrop, she did a marvelous job entertaining us at the awards ceremony, as well as announcing the winners! If you missed her performance, make sure you look her up in the events listing.

I'm so proud of each and everyone who built in the Easter Egg Abode competition. We had an awesome turnout, so many builders with wonderful builds!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to a New Year and a new start at Builder 2 Builder! We welcome all builders from every skill level to try their hand at our competition challenge!

This month we are asking . . . "Who will be the Gaudiest builder in the land?" We are looking for creations based in the style of Antoni Gaudi of Barcelona, Spain.

The contest is underway and ends at 6pm SLT on Sunday! Once you are done building you may begin scoring the other builders, click here to score! Remember, you must score all the other builders to remain in the competition!
